The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) has appointed Shayan Hazir as chief digital officer, Asean, effective August 8.
In the newly created role, Hazir will be responsible for setting the digital and innovation strategy, operating model and performance standards at HSBC Singapore, and more broadly across the bank’s Asean franchise. Based in Singapore, he will report to Kee Joo Wong, chief executive officer of HSBC Singapore, and will be part of the Singapore executive management team.
Hazir has 18 years of leadership experience across HSBC’s major markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.
Prior to his latest appointment, he served as head of global liquidity and cash management (GLCM) in Malaysia, where the business achieved significant revenue growth, industry recognition and won marquee mandates under his leadership.
Hazir played an instrumental role in driving digital transformation in Malaysia, including the launch of new digital solutions in close partnership with fintechs and the central bank. These achievements contributed to HSBC Malaysia winning The Asset Triple A Digital Awards for Digital Bank of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
